Ship HULL fitter – Croatia EU – VISA

We are looking for an experienced ship hull fitter to work in our partner's shipyard. The successful candidate will have experience working with aluminum and other metals for the construction, repair and maintenance of boats up to 15m. They will be able to read and interpret blueprints and other technical drawings and use hand tools, power tools and welding equipment to cut, shape and join metal components. They will also be responsible for ensuring that all safety standards are met. The shipfitter will work closely with other members of the shipyard team, including welders, carpenters and electricians.

Duties and responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements
• Mark the contours of the parts on metal sheets or plates using awls, dividers and rulers
• Measuring, marking and cutting aluminum plates, profiles, bars and beams using hand tools, power tools, machines and equipment
• Assemble and weld together parts of structural metal products, according to welding symbols and drawings, using electric arc welding equipment
• Inspect completed welds to determine structural strength and conformance to specifications
• Position and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly using jacks, tensioners, clamps and hammers
• Align and adjust parts to specifications, using squares, rulers, plumb bob, and levels
• Grinding, filing, filing, tapping, bending, drilling, drilling or hammering of parts using hand tools, power tools, machines and equipment
• Position, align, align and secure parts and assemblies prior to installation, using rulers, spirit levels, spirit level and jacks
• Install or replace machinery, equipment and new or replacement parts, following specifications and drawings
• Operate newly installed machinery and equipment to verify operational efficiency

Required skills and qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 1-3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches and drawings
• Working knowledge of safety assembly procedures
• Knowledge of assembly tools and equipment
• Physical ability to lift 23 kg and stand for long periods of time

Preferred skills and qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in assembling ship structures in a production environment
• Experience in working with steel and aluminum
• Experience in a shipyard or maritime environment

Working on aluminum boats up to 15m in length, those who have worked with aluminum have an advantage, but those who have only worked in steel will get used to it quickly.

Work is done in a renowned shipyard, the job is long-term.
